To help residents and business owners prepare for possible flooding, the Colusa County Department of Public Works has set up multiple sandbag and sand distribution sites throughout the county.

Sandbags and sand are available at several locations: Arbuckle (County Road Yard at 702 2nd Street), Colusa (County Road Yard at 717 D Street), Grimes (Sacramento River Fire District – Grand Island Station at 355 Main Street), Maxwell (County Road Yard at 211 Railroad Avenue), Princeton (Princeton Fire Department at 342 Winter Street), Williams (County Road Yard at 5714 E Street, open from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm), and Williams Fire Department (810 E Street).

The department noted that materials are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Restocking will occur as soon as more supplies become available. Residents are advised to bring their own shovels since equipment may not be provided at all sites.

“For those requiring assistance or after-hours service in specific areas, please contact your local fire department. For general questions regarding sandbag availability or site maintenance, please contact Colusa County Public Works at (530) 458-0466,” according to the announcement.

These measures aim to help community members protect their properties during periods of heavy rain or flood risk.
