Colusa County Transit Agency has announced that its Free Fare Days program will end on December 29. The initiative, which began six months ago, aimed to encourage more residents to use public transportation across the county.
During the program, Colusa County Transit provided about 27,000 free rides to residents. This response highlighted a strong community interest in accessible transit options. The free fare periods took place during February, April, June, August, October, and December of 2025.
Additionally, the agency noted that free rides will still be available to ballot drop-off locations on Election Day as long as funding continues.
Plans for 2026 are not yet finalized. However, Colusa County Transit expressed hope that the popular program—supported by a State LCTOP grant—could return in the future.
The service operates fixed routes connecting communities such as Colusa, Williams, Arbuckle, Maxwell, Princeton, Grimes, Sites, and Stonyford. For details on ride scheduling or fare information after December 29, residents can contact (530) 458-0BUS (0287).
