Colusa County announced on March 24 that its Tire Amnesty Days will conclude this Saturday, March 28, offering residents a final opportunity to dispose of old tires at no cost. The event, sponsored by the county and the Rural Counties’ Environmental Services Joint Powers Authority, aims to reduce illegal dumping and promote responsible waste management.
The Tire Amnesty Days are designed to help residents clear out unwanted tires from their properties. On the last collection day, tractor and semi-truck tires will also be accepted for free disposal, with a limit of two per resident. The drop-off event will take place at the Colusa County Road Department located at 5714 E Street in Williams from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Only Colusa County residents are eligible to participate.
Residents can bring up to nine passenger truck or car tires without rims. Those needing to transport more than nine passenger tires (up to twenty) can contact Colusa County Public Works for a Transportation Exemption. The program is funded by a grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), but funding is limited and free disposal may end if resources run out.
