Cordua Elementary School issued the following announcement.
Please see the attached Documentation from Dr. Luu. To summarize, because of the rapid spike in cases in the bi-county area, schools are being directed to “immediately” “pause”
phasing-in of in-person instruction. Preschool-1st grade will remain in-person at this time. The most important factor in relaying this information to you now is to prepare all
stakeholders, particularly 2nd grade students, parents, and teachers, that we will NOT be opening second grade tomorrow, Tuesday, November 17th.
As with all things COVID, this may change, but at this time, we will continue to follow the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines and all guidance from our public
health officer. To summarize the rest of the correspondence:
All elementary grades in school currently can remain in school.
Small groups of students can still be seen based on need at any grade level (EL, SPED, Failing students etc)
All 7-12 instruction in person is to stop now as these students have a higher level of ACE-2 receptors and increase the risk of transmission. This stop must be accomplished by
November 23rd.
Transmission is not really occurring in schools, but being brought in from people attending holiday related gatherings outside of school. The effects are already being felt in schools
across the bi-county area.
Phasing in will begin again when the curve is re-flattened.
Thank you for all you are doing to help slow the spread of COVID-19, ensure the health and safety of students and staff, maintain relationships, and facilitate learning. Your
patience, perseverance, and flexibility are greatly appreciated.
