Butte Vista Elementary School issued the following announcement:

Even as the number of positive COVID-19 cases have increased in our community, the District has worked diligently to keep our schools open and operational. Unfortunately, due to the increasing number of positive student and staff cases, as well as the number of close contacts requiring the quarantining of multiple individuals, we are beginning to experience programmatic and staffing challenges.

Additionally, on Thursday, Dec. 3rd, the District was notified that the Bi-County Public Health Officer would be issuing new recommendations to close all schools in Sutter and Yuba Counties, and revert back to Distance Learning. In consultation with the YCUSD Governing Board, the decision has been made to revert YCUSD preschool through 5th-grade classes back to Distance Learning until after the winter break.

This change will go into effect on Monday, Dec. 7th.

For now, your child will continue to be assigned to their current teacher. Your child’s school will be communicating with you and your child to prepare for this Monday’s return to Distance Learning.

The District will continue to monitor and assess the situation, and will be in close communication with the Bi-County Public Health Officer over the next few weeks.
