Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) has issued a statement in reaction to President Biden's recent State of the Union Address. In his response, Congressman LaMalfa criticized the President's speech, describing it as "an angry, yelling campaign style speech that missed the point that the actual State of our Union has serious problems." LaMalfa highlighted concerns regarding inflation and border security, stating, "Since President Biden took office, inflation has increased at least 17.9%, with the prices of necessary essentials like electricity, food, and rent increasing by even more."

The Congressman expressed his dismay at the impact of the administration's policies on American families, referring to the economic strain caused by what he termed 'Bidenomics.' He claimed that each family could face an additional cost of $11,000 annually due to these economic policies. LaMalfa also raised issues regarding border security, attributing the presence of millions of illegal aliens in the country to President Biden's open border policies. He specifically mentioned the case of Laken Riley, a victim of a criminal alien, emphasizing the need for immediate deportation of such individuals.

Despite these concerns, Congressman LaMalfa noted that President Biden did not address these critical issues in his speech. Instead, he criticized the President's focus on expanding government and raising taxes. Congressman LaMalfa, a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba Counties, concluded his statement with these remarks.
