The Colusa County Board of Supervisors has appointed Bob Buckner as the new Colusa County Assessor, with his term set to begin on January 1, 2025. Buckner is currently serving as the Assistant Assessor and was selected for this role following a public process due to the upcoming retirement of Arnold Gross, the current assessor.
Buckner brings over 23 years of experience in property appraisal and assessment across various counties. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from CSU Chico, advanced certification in property appraisal, and leadership roles in property assessment offices in Butte, Sutter, and Colusa counties.
“Bob Buckner’s experience, dedication, and leadership have proven invaluable to Colusa County, and we are excited to see him lead the Assessor’s Office,” stated Supervisor Gary J. Evans, Chair of the Colusa County Board of Supervisors. “His commitment to public service, community, and efficiency aligns well with our goals for a seamless transition.”
Since 2021, Buckner has served as Assistant Assessor where he managed responsibilities such as valuing possessory interests, gas wells, agricultural properties, and overseeing budgetary and operational aspects of the office. His efforts have enhanced transparency and equitable property assessments in Colusa County.
“I am honored to be selected as Colusa County Assessor and look forward to building on the progress we’ve made in the office,” said Buckner. “I am committed to continuing a culture of respect, professionalism, and public service to ensure our assessments reflect the standards and values of our community.”
The Colusa County Assessor’s Office is tasked with identifying, valuing, and assessing all taxable property within the county. The office aims to provide fair assessments that support local government services.
