The County of Colusa has announced that the elevator at the Colusa County Courthouse will be out of service for around six weeks starting from April 9, 2025. The elevator will undergo modernization to update its mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring they meet current safety and fire regulations.

The temporary closure will affect access to several departments on the upper floors, including the courts, the Clerk/Recorder/Elections department, the Auditor/Controller office, and the Board of Supervisors Chambers. Despite this, all offices will continue to operate during the modernization process.

To maintain accessibility, County staff will offer first-floor services to individuals unable to use the stairs. Patrons needing assistance can contact the respective departments through the provided phone numbers to arrange first-floor assistance.

The County aims to keep disruption to public services minimal and apologizes for any inconvenience the closure might cause. "We appreciate the public's patience as we work to improve the safety and accessibility of the Courthouse," stated County officials. Updates will be communicated as the project progresses and as the completion date becomes clearer.
