On December 17, 2024, the Colusa County Board of Supervisors formally acknowledged Supervisor Gary J. Evans for his substantial contributions to the county with a proclamation. Evans, who serves as the Board Chair, will retire from county service on December 30, 2024.
Evans has represented District 4 on the Board of Supervisors for five consecutive terms. His tenure has been marked by efforts in infrastructure development, economic growth, and public safety.
“Nothing that I do is in a silo, and I am forever grateful to have worked with such an incredible team and colleagues,” Evans stated. “The fact that the voters decided to elect this old boy from the hills for five consecutive terms is incredibly humbling.”
A fourth-generation resident of Colusa County, Evans graduated from Maxwell High School before working for the USDA Forest Service in fire management for 12 years. In 1979, he started a small sawmill and logging business. Throughout his career, Evans introduced and coordinated various projects involving county, state, federal agencies and private landowners with a cooperative spirit.
The Board of Supervisors and Colusa County community express their gratitude to Evans for his dedication to public service. His leadership has left a lasting impact on the county.
