Congressman Doug LaMalfa has announced a significant funding allocation for the Sites Reservoir project. A recent Continuing Resolution has earmarked $134 million for the reservoir, supplementing an earlier approval of $200 million this year.
"This funding boost of $134 million for Sites Reservoir through the WIIN Act of 2016, on top of the $200 million approved earlier this year, brings us even closer to making this important project a reality," said Rep. LaMalfa. He emphasized the importance of moving forward with the project while waiting for California to finalize permits. "We cannot afford to let water flow out to sea unused, especially when droughts are inevitable. Sites Reservoir is the solution, and this funding marks another critical step in securing a more reliable water supply for California."
Rep. LaMalfa serves as Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus and represents California's First Congressional District, which includes Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba Counties.
