Colusa County issued the following announcement.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) delivered the first regional shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 (Coronavirus) vaccine to Mercy Medical Center Redding
(Mercy Medical) in Shasta County on December 17th. Colusa County is part of Region III of the County Medical and Health Operational Area. Each of the nine counties within
Region III are provided a specific allotment of vaccine, and Mercy Medical is currently conducting intake of the vaccine, reviewing local storage processes, and planning for re-
distribution to the nine counties within the region.
Once Colusa County receives the allocated vaccine, it will be distributed directly to Colusa Medical Center (CMC) healthcare workers. This initial allocation will NOT be enough to
vaccinate all CMC healthcare workers. In addition to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, Colusa County also expects to receive an unspecified number of doses of the Moderna vaccine
in the next couple of weeks. The vaccines are free of charge, and voluntary. Under current circumstances, Colusa County expects to be able to provide the vaccine to the
community-at-large in Spring 2021. However, if national, statewide, or local conditions change, this timeline may be impacted. As additional vaccines are allocated, Colusa County
will be following federal and state guidelines for phased-in distribution, which prioritizes the following individuals:
Frontline healthcare workers;
First responders; and,
Skilled nursing facility residents.
The Colusa County Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) would again ask that we remain diligent in ensuring compliance to the face covering Order, continue
maintaining 6-ft physical distancing, continue hand washing and proper hygiene, and remain home if sick, or exposed to COVID-19. Colusa County’s COVID-19 Portal can be
