Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa of Richvale announced that the Trump Administration has allocated $315.5 million to California water storage projects. This funding includes $200 million for the Sites Reservoir.
LaMalfa expressed his support for this development, stating, "Today’s funding allocation is great news for Sites Reservoir and California’s water future. This project is more than just a plan; it’s a vital solution to address our state's ongoing water challenges." He emphasized the importance of increasing storage capacity to manage water resources effectively during wet and dry periods.
The Congressman also highlighted the need for state permits, which are still pending, as part of the project's progression. He remarked, "While we still wait on the State of California to issue the final permits, this funding moves us forward on a project that’s widely recognized as essential for meeting our long-term water needs."
LaMalfa thanked President Trump and Secretary Burgum for their efforts in addressing California's water issues. He noted that "Sites Reservoir provides that critical storage, and this funding is a significant step in ensuring a more reliable water supply for Californians."
Doug LaMalfa serves as Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus and represents California's First Congressional District.
