Rep. Doug LaMalfa was sworn in for his seventh term as a U.S. House Representative, serving California's 1st Congressional District. The ceremony took place today in Washington, D.C., with LaMalfa expressing optimism about the legislative possibilities under a Republican-controlled Congress and White House.
LaMalfa emphasized the importance of supporting rural areas, improving forest management, and ensuring affordable domestic energy. "This Congress is a fresh start for America," he stated. He highlighted priorities such as reducing government spending, addressing illegal immigration, and lowering consumer energy prices. "We need to prioritize American workers and American families," LaMalfa added.
The Congressman also stressed his commitment to reforms aimed at mitigating wildfire risks, boosting rural prosperity, and making energy more affordable. "I’m ready to get to work for the people I represent," he said.
LaMalfa serves as Chairman of the Western Caucus and has a background in farming. His district encompasses Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba Counties.
