Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa announced the opening of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in California's 1st District. The theme for this year's competition is "California Gold." Students can find guidelines and more information on the Congressman’s website. The deadline for submissions is April 25th.

The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol alongside other winners from congressional districts across the country.

“I’m pleased to announce that this year’s Congressional Art Competition is now open, with the theme ‘California Gold.’ This competition gives talented young artists a chance to showcase their work on a national stage and brings a piece of Northern California to the halls of the U.S. Capitol. I look forward to seeing all the incredible submissions,” said Rep. LaMalfa.

Doug LaMalfa serves as Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus and represents California’s First Congressional District, which includes Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba Counties.
