Today, the House Natural Resources Committee advanced Congressman Doug LaMalfa's bill, H.R. 1110, known as the Grazing for Wildfire Risk Reduction Act. The legislation mandates the Secretary of Agriculture to devise and implement a strategy to enhance livestock grazing opportunities as a method for reducing wildfire risks.
Rep. LaMalfa expressed his satisfaction with the committee's decision, stating, "By utilizing grazing as a tool for wildfire risk reduction, we can make our forests healthier and more resilient. This bill will provide a strategic, no-nonsense approach to addressing the threat of wildfires while supporting local ranchers and improving forest management. I am happy to see this legislation move through the Natural Resources Committee with unanimous support."
House Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman also commented on the bill's progress: "Congressman LaMalfa’s bipartisan legislation is a commonsense solution that will help our nation’s ranchers while reducing the threat of catastrophic wildfire. I was proud to include this legislation in the Fix Our Forests Act and move it through the Natural Resources Committee today."
