The Colusa County Community Development Department has announced a public hearing scheduled for November 14, 2024. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Granzella’s Inn Conference Center in Williams. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss a potential application for funding through the State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Income Funds.

Colusa County is considering applying for up to $1,250,000 in CDBG Program Income funds. These funds could be distributed over one or two fiscal years, with possible disbursements starting on July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2026. The eligible activities for these funds include Homeownership Assistance and Housing Rehabilitation Programs, Public Facility and Improvement Projects, Public Services, Planning Studies, and Economic Development initiatives.

A key aspect of the proposed funding plan is support for Karen’s House. This non-profit organization provides essential services to survivors of domestic violence. With this funding, Colusa County aims to improve resources available to support vulnerable community members.

Community members are encouraged to attend the hearing and share their views on the proposed funding application and eligible projects. Written comments can also be submitted beforehand to the Colusa County Community Development Department at their office on Market Street or via email to Greg Plucker at gplucker@countyofcolusa.com. More information can be found on the County's CDBG Program website.

The department invites all residents, especially those from low and moderate-income families, to participate in this process and offer feedback on how these funds can best serve community development needs.
