Colusa County has announced a new pilot program allowing limited waterfowl hunting at East Park Reservoir for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season. This initiative aims to enhance recreational opportunities and manage local waterfowl populations.
Ten hunters will be selected through a random drawing to participate in this program. Those chosen will have the chance to select a designated hunting blind location at the reservoir. Each participant may bring up to two guests, subject to an additional fee.
The application period for the drawing is set from January 1, 2025, at midnight until January 7, 2025, just before midnight. The electronic drawing will occur on January 9, 2025. Successful applicants will be permitted to hunt on weekends for the rest of California's waterfowl season.
To qualify, participants must meet several criteria: they must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid state ID or driver's license, possess a current California Hunting License with all necessary stamps and permits (school IDs are not accepted), and complete online registration with a $50 non-refundable fee by January 7, 2025. Payment must be made online; cash or check payments are not allowed.
Interested individuals can apply for the waterfowl drawing through the East Park reservation website: https://visitcolusacounty.com/
