Congressman Doug LaMalfa has issued a statement following the House's approval of H.R. 26, known as the Protecting American Energy Production Act. This legislation is designed to prevent any president from imposing a ban on hydraulic fracturing, commonly referred to as fracking, and asserts that states should be responsible for regulating this practice on both state and private lands.
In his statement, Rep. LaMalfa said, "Hydraulic fracturing made America the world leader in oil and natural gas production, yet radical activists and left-wing politicians have been actively trying to ban it for years. The Protecting American Energy Production Act will ensure that no President can unilaterally ban fracking, as the Obama Administration proposed, and Biden supported. This important legislation will help keep America an energy powerhouse."
Rep. LaMalfa serves as Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus and represents California's First Congressional District. His district encompasses Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba Counties.
